India Condemns OIC’s Factually Inaccurate, Misleading Statement On Delhi Violence
NEW DELHI: India on Thursday hit out at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, for its statement on Delhi violence, saying the comments are factually inaccurate and misleading. External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Raveesh Kumar urged bodies like the OIC, not to make irresponsible statements at this sensitive time.
“The statements which have come out of OIC are factually inaccurate, they are selective, they are misleading. There is an effort on the ground, to restore normalcy, to create confidence,” Raveesh Kumar said.
“We urge these bodies not to indulge in irresponsible statements at this sensitive time,” he said.
Briefing media in New Delhi, the Spokesman said, there is an effort on the ground to restore normalcy and create confidence. Kumar added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself publicly appealed for peace and brotherhood.
The OIC had condemned the violence in Delhi.
Referring to some statements which have come out by agencies and individuals on the matter, the Spokesman said that it is not the right time to make such comments and they can create more problems.
The communal violence over the amended citizenship law in northeast Delhi has claimed at least 34 lives and left over 200 people injured.
